LEAWOOD, Kansas — May 23, 2011 — epay, a division of Euronet Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: EEFT) and a leading global prepaid and payments processor, today announced the completion of multi-country agreements with Microsoft Corp. covering Europe, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions. The agreements enable epay to distribute Microsoft point-of-sale-activated products, including Microsoft Office 2010, across epay’s worldwide network of over 278,000 retailer locations.
Consumers can buy the Office 2010 POSA product to either unlock Office 2010 software already installed on their hardware (laptop, PC, Mobile Device) or download the Office 2010 software directly from the Internet. The POSA solution eliminates software installation in favor of a simpler consumer experience and activation process, reducing costs and risk of theft of physical software merchandise, and is more environmentally friendly, thereby significantly reducing packaging and plastic use.
“epay is excited to provide Microsoft, our retailers and ultimately the consumer, a simple and commercially beneficial product proposition,” said Kevin Caponecchi, President of Euronet Worldwide. “We are a global company and well placed to complement the growth and product development aspirations of Microsoft, and we welcome the opportunity to work with a global brand such as Microsoft.”
Steve Atchison, EMEA Category Management Lead for Microsoft Office explains, “Microsoft will work with epay in driving the ‘Digital Content’ opportunity through Point of Sale Activated solutions across the world, kicking off with Office 2010. epay provides Microsoft with flexible retail, distribution, IT and commercial solutions, allowing us to focus on our products, proposition and customers’ needs.”
